For the past year, my wife’s Honda CRV had been making a God awful noise on start up. After much research, I discovered it was the VTC actuator and timing chain tensioner. Over the years, I've successfully nailed down a caring doctor and a relatively painless dentist, but, trying to find an honest auto mechanic had been a struggle. I am a retired San Diego Police Officer. Police officers generally know the best places to eat and reputable businesses to patronize, so I reached out to co-workers asking for recommendations for an honest mechanic. The response was immediate...Chris, at H-Car Garage in Pacific Beach. Chris knew exactly what the problem was and how to repair it. When I picked up the car the following morning, he presented a fair, fully detailed parts and labor repair invoice. We tow my wife’s Honda behind our motor home. When Chris opened the hood, it was embarrassingly obvious my engine bay hadn’t been cleaned for over 31,000 miles of (often off-road) towing. When I picked up the car, the engine bay looked like new again…and Chris didn’t even charge me for the engine detail…who does stuff like that? If you're anything like me , just looking to find an honest and very personable auto mechanic who won't take you to the cleaners, I’ll repeat the fantastic advice I was given, “go see Chris at H-Car Garage and look no further”

Do not give this shop any business. This place is dishonest. They charged my girlfriend $500 for a "engine oil leaking in the transmission." Even if you don't know much about cars -- a quick google search shows that is a problem that DOES NOT EXIST, except in the rarest of circumstances. As a girl who went into this shop alone, they saw someone who could easily be ripped off. Disgusting.

One service visit with Gary and Chris Westwood causes the customer to become a life-long friend and client. Instead of being entangled in the de-personalization of dealer service facilities, the H-Car client knows the H-Car professionals are intrinsically concerned about the well-being of the cars they love as well as with the practical needs of the customer. But they don't stop there; instead every customer is identified with the owned car in a particular way, and courtesy and friendliness accompany every call and visit. Go see these guys, and you won't become a cardboard mounted number on a windshield.
