🔧 San Diego Auto Star Smog Service & Repair

This place is so awesome! I've been struggling to find an honest AND knowledgeable mechanic since moving to San Diego a few years ago. Recently I had some engine lights on and over heating issues and was redirected to two places. One was Firestone (unhelpful) the other one was the Lexus dealership (even more unhelpful). The dealership was going to charge me +$3k for a radiator replacement and wasn't going to give me a warranty because the parts were "discontinued" I even asked the desk guy about the warranty and parts before agreeing to an inspection and so he basically lied to my or was just on autopilot who knows.. Anyways I found San Diego Auto Star from chat GPT of all places. I chose this one based on its compliments for honest work and it's true! Tony was INCREDIBLY helpful and generous with his time and expertise and was able to help me out for about the 1/5th of the cost of the dealership. He also gave me advice for how to better care for my car and what kind of repairs to plan for next so I can be more proactive with my vehicle. It's an older Lexus with low mileage and I want to keep it for a while. I highly recommend this place! Couldn't ask for a better service!

If you are looking for an honest local mechanic in San Diego, look no further. I've been taking my car here for years and I have found them to be always professional, super nice, and very helpful and honest. There have been times where they have told me how I could save money on something, even if they could have charged me more. That kind of honesty and professionalism can be hard to find and it is great that we have a local mechanic shop that is so dedicated to quality.

Even using the CAP program by the Bureau of Automotive repair, my complicated smog problem was being turned away by all the official state repair stations. Only this place accepted me and was willing to repair the problem. That means a lot to me. It was a pain in the butt but it wasn’t their fault, it was the extremely finicky issue on my car that only they were willing to address. Go here. They’re hard workers.

Great service, very professional and trustworthy. They definitely go the extra mile. We are greatful to Tony and the entire team for all of their great work. Tony was able to fix the reasons my pick-up's check engine light was coming on. I definitely recommend their business.
