I’ve lived in the San Diego area for just over five years—moved here the same week COVID-19 hit and everything shut down. Since then, I’ve been searching for a reliable, trustworthy mechanic who could handle both regular maintenance and bigger jobs. While I enjoy tinkering with cars, I no longer have the time or space to do it myself, so finding the right shop was important. I recently bought a used truck with 257K miles. Although I purchased it from a trusted family friend, there was no full maintenance history available. My biggest concern was whether the timing belt and water pump had been replaced at 200K miles, and unfortunately, no one could confirm it had been done. I tried a few local shops and even a mobile mechanic—who ghosted me after one job. Frustrated, I turned to Yelp and discovered JJ’s Main Auto & Tire Service. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was in good hands. Jose took the time to sit down with me, listen to my concerns, and go over everything thoroughly. We agreed to start with the timing belt and water pump—and thank goodness we did. Not only did they complete the job promptly, but Jose also identified a few other issues and walked me through every repair. He showed me the old parts, explained their condition, and made sure I understood what was done and why. The attention to detail was impressive, and the service was honest, professional, and fairly priced—exactly what I was hoping for. I couldn’t be happier with my experience at JJ’s. I’ll be bringing all my vehicles here moving forward and highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality automotive service.

Jose & Jose Jr both welcomed me with open arms, had a awesome conversation with Jose Jr about cars in general, he was able to diagnose that I had a slight transmission leak on my 2016 ILX, and was able to help me with financing as well for everything I needed. Pricing was more than fair, SUPER affordable for those who especially know how to work on cars but don’t have the tools or room to do so. Also told me about doing custom exhaust work, super excited to come back and offer my business to him especially since he’s much closer than my last guy. Satisfied and feel more safe knowing I have trustworthy, knowledgeable, & dependable people working on my ILX.

Had a great first experience with JJ’s Main Auto and Tire. Had a ton on of gasket replacements I needed to do on my father’s car and Jose Jr. was very communicative and transparent on everything including the updates on the status of the vehicle. Dropped it off in the morning and was able to pick it up towards the end of the day. The folks here do amazing work and are super friendly, I will definitely be taking my vehicle here again!

I’ve taken many of mine and my family’s cars and we’ve all been satisfied with the repairs and services. They are fair and reasonable with their prices, the customer service is very professional and friendly especially from Mr. Jose. I would definitely recommend them, and I will continue taking my cars to them.
